My role as a Managing Consultant is to plan, oversee and conduct business development within clients of strategic important and high revenue. External responsibilities include all aspects of client relationships, and being a trusted advisor for all Security needs. This often encapsulates the role of a virtual CSO / CISO, in strategic programme work and delivery in my areas of expertise. Demonware – Activision Blizzard, – Dec 2011 – April 2015 Security Advisor, Manager and Lead Engineer, directly reported to CEO, CTO and COO.

At Demonware I was the Security Advisor, Manager and lead engineer. A recent re-organization has seen my teams split into operational roles, while I take the title of Security Expert – filling a partial CISO and Security Architect role, defining security programs and working with Global Security Teams through Activision Blizzard and other Game studios. Working on creating a new Standards body for Security Best Practices with 12 other leading gaming studios through Activision Blizzard. Responsible for all Information Security Globally. At the AESO, I was responsible for full project management of the IT Security Programme balancing and controlling several million dollars in budget. I helped create, maintain and execute on a long term security strategy and plans for improving the AESO’s information security posture and maturity level under ISO 27002 and towards eventual compliance with NERC/CIP – Alberta Reliability Standards. I was involved in writing business case, vendor selection and management, high level solution architectures and team project execution.

TELUS Security Solutions – January 08 to August 2010 Senior Security Manager & Practice Co-Lead – Identity & Access Management Lead

At TELUS Security Solutions, I co-lead and manage TELUS Western Security Consulting Practice in addition to being a Security Architect with a specialty in Identity and Access Management. As practice co-lead I’ve managed a team of highly skilled and respected security personnel, while writing proposals, RFP responses, business plans. My daily responsibilities include successful negotiation of contracts, project and team management and delivery work for custom architectures and security solutions.

As the Identity and Access Management lead (and Java Architect), I successfully; facilitated, negotiated and delivered on contracts in health care and commercial enterprise for Identity and Access Management systems in Ontario and British Columbia. As a respected consultant I have provided project management and subject matter expertise with key involvement in many large scale initiatives, including significant work on British Columbia’s Electronic Health Care system. I have delivered on security programs; project management, change request processes, secure code review, secure architecture, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing and custom solution development for both businesses and technical infrastructure with Enterprise Java technologies.

I worked in cooperative arrangement with Brighton Consulting and Sun Microsystems as a SUN Badged Partner in the architecture and delivery of Java based Security Identity and Access Management systems.

As a consultant and Identity Designer, I helped manage, architect and develop custom productized enterprise scale Identity and Access Management systems. We delivered projects across industry sectors such as; auto and health insurance, telecommunications and higher education. Several of my projects were featured as Sun.com success stories for ICBC Portals and Identity Architecture.

My responsibilities included project management, change request process and team mentoring during project delivery as an Architect and Identity Designer.

Accenture, Services Communications and High Tech – October 04 to February 06 Solutions Architect and Lead Identity Developer (TELUS)

At Accenture during TELUS co-sourcing arrangements, I delivered security frameworks and lead the internal security Identity Management team. I analyzed designed and developed internal and external identity systems, utilizing SOA and custom identity services. My project management responsibilities were to maintain resourcing, budgets and timelines in effective delivery of security programs.

As a member of the enterprise frameworks team, I was responsible for designing and implementing authorization services with protected domains, signed code and directed graph path access control proof of concepts.

As technical lead for internal identity, I participated in project and program planning and team management. I assisted in the delivery of Identity Manager POC’s with Sun Identity Manager and migrated internal applications to a single sign on architecture, in addition to working with SUN on migrating telus.com access control from Site Minder to Sun Access Manager.

Spielo, iGaming and Systems Group – October 01 to November 2003 Technical Lead J2EE Designer and Developer Analyst

At Spielo, I was responsible for technical leadership of proprietary Java frameworks and system design, as a liaison between architecture and development teams. I delivered on the design and development of highly secure and transactional systems, for on-line gaming and casino management systems. Directly responsible for custom software based clustering, gaming protocols, software router design and transactional messaging layers. While working with international standards bodies, we participated in creating new web service standards for gaming industries.

ImagcTV, Video Manger & Web Guide Group – January 01 to October 01 J2EE Developer Analyst

At iMagic TV, I was a developer analyst within web channel and online gaming portal groups. I was responsible for the analysis, design and development of an on-line IP (internet) TV guide with video on demand service integration and pay per view modules. My responsibilities included maintaining a video assent management system and the developed set top box controls. During research and development, I worked on a J2ME prototype for mobile control of personalized network accessible DVR / PVR server.

Advanced Training and Services (ATS) – 4 Month Contract Java Mentor and Course ware Developer

At Advanced Training and Services, I worked as a contractor developing Enterprise Java courseware and supporting material. I was responsible for participating in the development of utility programs including an HTML authoring environment and courseware delivery, for students across the Maritimes and Corporate Customers Across North America.

Microage, Service Group – September 97 to May 99 Computer and Networking Technician + Java

At Microage my responsibilities included; management of the service desk, computer - printer repair and network installations with Windows, Novell and Linux. My team and I did the majority of all warranty work for Future Shop in Moncton New Brunswick. While working with Microage I helped deployed many small and medium sized business networks.

As the local franchise grew and fox pro was no longer serving well as a custom invoicing application, I conducted the analysis and development of its proposed replacement in Java.

Clients included; Royal Bank of Canada, Case Populaire (French bank), Architects 4, Irving Oil, Times and Transcript (newspaper) among several small and medium sized businessses. Our office also had a local private training school, where I tutored students in A+, Novell Netware and Linux.
